The immense vortex of gossip that enveloped the news of the Beatles’ breakup was so impressive as to obscure the real reasons that caused it, including a little explored, if not completely ignored, reason, which I will talk about shortly. This topic escaped the gossip and the possibilities of those who wrote them, since it was placed outside the strictly journalistic and musical propaganda sphere. Like many, I have always tried to understand why the most famous musical group in the world, in the midst of enormous success, decided to split up. It has always seemed clear to me that there must be a deeper reason than the official ones, often rather fragile, such as the alleged disagreement between the members’ wives. The truth, in my opinion, is that such a consolidated group hardly breaks up just because of internal differences. Probably something new has begun to emerge in cultural ideologies, and I think this happened in John Lennon’s mind: becoming an avant-garde artist, a Fluxus artist.
